Enrollment FAQs

Who is eligible to attend Valor Classical Academy?

Any Indiana resident entering the grades Valor serves is eligible to apply for admissions to Valor Classical Academy tuition-free.

Which grade levels are offered at Valor Classical Academy?

Valor will offer kindergarten through sixth grade and will add at least one grade each year until K-12 is served.

Is there an Open House for parents to learn more about the school?

After Valor’s educational space is completed, the school will host an Open House and publish the a notice of the meeting in our newsletter and on our website. School Tours will be encouraged after that time as well. You may also wish to read through our FAQs page to learn more about charter schools, classical schools, our policies in brief, and our collection of curricula.

How old does my child need to be to apply for kindergarten?

To be eligible for kindergarten admission, applicants must turn five (5) years old by August 1 of the academic year for which they seek enrollment. Parents who wish to enroll a child who turns five (5) years old from August 2 to October 1 may apply, but their child’s eligibility will be determined by a kindergarten readiness assessment administered by the school.

Is there an application form to submit for enrollment?

When enrollment opens, there will be a link to the enrollment application. By submitting an application, you are indicating that you would like a seat in a certain grade; however, applicants are neither obligated to attend nor guaranteed enrollment if applications exceed capacity.

What is the difference between Enrollment and Registration?

Enrollment is the process whereby an application is submitted to indicate interest in a seat, after which an offer for admission is made by the school. Registration is the process after an offer is accepted, whereby required forms for Admission are submitted.

What happens if the number of applications exceeds capacity?

When the number of applications exceed available seats for any given grade, a lottery will be held to determine who is offered admission and who will be placed on the waiting list. The lottery will be held during a public meeting at a time and location determined by Valor’s administration and published in a notice to the public.

Is anyone given preference in the enrollment process and lottery?

Yes. As permitted under I.C. 20-24-5-5 (2021) et seq, Valor limits admissions to ensure the return of current students and siblings of current and alumnus students, and gives enrollment preference for children of parents who are full-time employees, board members, and founders of Valor Classical Academy.

If I am applying for full-time employment at Valor Classical Academy, will my child be given preference in the lottery?

No. Children of prospective full-time employees will participate in the lottery without the employee priority. The full-time employment priority applies only to those who are already employees of Valor Classical Academy at the time the Lottery is held.

How will I learn the results of the lottery and know if my student has been offered a seat?

Parents will receive an email with the results of the Lottery and Waitlists by grade. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that Valor has the most updated contact information (phone, mailing address and email address) for notification purposes. For specific information about the Lottery and notification, please visit our Enrollment Policy page.

What happens once I am notified that my child has been offered an available seat?

Parents of all applicants who have been offered an available seat must accept the offer within 3 days of receiving notification. Once a seat is accepted, parents then have 7 days to complete and submit registration forms with valid supporting documents. Failure to submit a timely reply or submission will forfeit the seat offer.

Will current students have to participate in the lottery each year?

No. All current students have the opportunity to re-enroll for the following year, subject to continued Indiana residency and other academic and disciplinary guidelines as stated in the Family Handbook.

Will the Waitlists for the current school year carry over into the enrollment period for the following school year?

Yes. Waitlist positions are retained year after year. However, upon conclusion of every Lottery and after receiving notification of the results, parents must reply within 3 days of notification in order to retain their current position.

If I have further questions about enrollment and school tours, whom should I contact?

Please feel free to contact our office at office@valorclassicalacademy.org.
